WASTEWATER PLANT ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
The City of Franklin Water Management Department has a
vacancy for Wastewater Plant Assistant Superintendent.
Responsibilities, generally, include supervising and
directing plant personnel; ensuring continued operations
of the wastewater plant and main pump station;
overseeing and ensuring turning of valves, pushing of
switches, and collection of samples, lubrication of
equipment, reading of gauges, and recording of data;
ensuring plant equipment and plant grounds are
maintained; compiling plant records, observing
conditions and performing calculations to determine that
plant is operating effectively; overseeing equipment
maintenance and replacement needs; working with
Superintendent to assist with State and Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) inspectors during plant
inspections; explaining and justifying test results and
general plant operations to inspectors; ensuring plant
complies with all State and EPA requirements in its
operations; ensuring that effluent discharges meet state
and federal requirements; assisting in the collection of
samples, testing samples and recording data; submitting
required information from tests to control agencies; and
ensuring the health and welfare of the community by
monitoring the water quality of the effluent discharged
into permitted rivers and all reuse water projects.
Minimum Qualifications: BS in chemistry, biology (or
related) with three to five years experience with
operating a wastewater plant facility. Must possess a
Wastewater Grade IV License.
$44,324/year or higher depending on
education/qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Apply

Tennessee American Water is seeking a team-oriented individual to fill the position of Laborer/Relief Process Technician in the Production Department. The primary duties will involve heavy manual labor activities related to maintenance of underground facilities which will include frequent walking, lifting and carrying of heavy objects and working with heavy machinery. This position will also serve as relief for the Process Technician whose principal responsibilities are operating a surface water treatment plant, including but not limited to, operating and controlling motors and valves to regulate the flow of raw water, injecting chemicals into the water; cleaning of filter beds using backwashing, collecting and testing water samples, and monitoring of the complete system process. Keyboarding skills and the ability to use electronic equipment including SCADA programs to obtain and record data are important components of this job. Good communication and customer relations skills are essential.
Minimum education requirements: Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator license issued by TDEC, high school graduate or state recognized educational equivalency certificate, college degree a plus. The job requires a valid driver’s license, drug
screen and physical fitness examination, and the attainment of security clearance by successfully completing a criminal background check.
